This is the aftermath of a thunder storm that came over Launceston late today. I took these pics (2 images merged in Photoshop) on my mobile phone as I left work around 6:35pm

I rarely use my phone camera (let alone the phone itself), so I'm not that familiar with the controls... which explains the framing differences between the images. Also if you look carefully, you'll notice the rainbow didn't merge that well.

25 years...

Today marked a quarter of a century milestone for me. 25 years in the one job. Yes fans, (i know you're out there) I started work at TNT9 on this day, December 17 1983, as a part-time cameraman. 8 months later I went full-time and worked in several areas including studio camera, videotape, audio production, video production and news editing.

Just have to slog out another 17 years to retirement...

Slacking off

Tomorrow I return to work after three weeks of leave. Apart from two trips to Hobart to catch up with Tony, I didn't actually go anywhere. I started a few projects, like scanning some of my old transparencies using my new flatbed film scanner. That's a rather large task as there's at least 40 boxes of (on average) 36 slides. So far I've only scanned 8 boxes (they take about an hour each). I'm expecting this project to string out a few months in between doing other projects.

Something else I'll have to look at soon is my decaying website. With over 600 links, I've discovered there are at least 15 bad external links that no longer function - thanks to a small application I found called Integrity.

Happy Birthday Daryl...

Happy birthday to Daryl Hannah (Cathy Featherstone in Summer Lovers) and loads of other movies.

Daryl spends her 48th birthday setting out to sea today onboard the Sea Shepherd society vessel Steve Irwin to protest against the Japanese whaling fleet in the Southern Ocean.

Daryl and Captain Paul Watson appeared on 7 Network's Sunrise today.
