2451 images later...

Greek Mosaic

This started out as a mosaic tiling project using the MacOSaix app.

The set up was ambitious at 200 x 200 tiles and loaded several folders of images from my 2007 Greek Island vacation - 2451 image files to be precise. The application works rather slow on my old G5, so I let it work and process the mosaic overnight.

By morning I had a TIFF image file of 12247 x 8165 pixels weighing in at 237.6MB.

Next was the import into Photo-To-Movie app to add some movement. I tweaked around with the keyfames until I had something close to what I imagined. Once save, the export would fail on every attempt so I twent back a few steps and loaded the TIFF file to my iBook and tried again, this time with success.

From here (now saved as a DV file) I fired up iMovie to add music and a few other things and saved the final version as a MOV file.

Unfortunately, somewhere in the rendering of the movement sequences, I lost a considerable amount of resolution and the end result looks soft.
